IDS Plastic Adhesion Promoter
Improves adhesion of UV Ink to all plastic surfaces. This adhesion promoter is an all-purpose clear primer ideal for multiple uses where a strong ink bond is required.
Applied by hand or with a roll coater, IDS Plastic Adhesion Promoter encourages the adhesion of the ink and enhances color density and clarity of the printed color.
Adhesion Promoter Usage Instructions
Please note: Drying times and application methods can vary greatly depending on your substrate and your print needs, testing is encouraged to find optimal application methods.
Preparing the Substrate
Before applying adhesion promoter to the substrate, the surface of the substrate should be thoroughly cleaned with a clean, lint-free cloth and denatured alcohol or 99% alcohol before application of adhesion promoter.
How is it Applied?
There are many methods to apply adhesion promoter to the substrate. It depends on personal preference. The following methods work best:
- Clean, lint-free cloth application
- Airless sprayer application
- Squeegee application
- Roll coat application
For each application method, apply a thin coat. The thinner the coat of adhesion promoter, the better the end result and adhesion properties of the substrate will be.
Excess residue can be wiped away from the substrate with a clean, lint-free cloth and denatured alcohol.
How Long Can the Treated Substrate Sit?
After application of the adhesion promoter, the substrate can sit for up to 48 hours before needing to be reapplied.
How Long Does it Take to Dry?
- Glass, Metal & Tile adhesion promoter should be run through a drying tunnel or other type of indirect heat at 150° for 5-10 minutes.
- Plastic & Rubber adhesion promoter should be air-dried at ambient temperature for 2 minutes.
For printed product in most cases, the best adhesion properties are achieved after allowing the promoter to cure for at least 24 hours before printing.
